Who to trust.

Here's a smorgasbord of web sites, blogs, podcasts and books that I feel are great resources.

Branding (yourself)

Lealea Design Blog: The Art of Self-Branding: Part One, Two & Three
http://www.lealea.net/blog/comments/the-art-of-self-branding-part-one/
There are 3 parts so make sure you follow through to the end. Lea has a light and fresh voice that makes reading her blog a fun experience. Can't help but smile after reading her entries (don't worry, there's no fluff here... it's all practical, sound information).

Search Engine Optimization

Most of my knowledge has been gleaned from many, many sites and through years of working in the web industry. However, I found a couple of sites that come highly recommended.

SEO Book.com - SEO Training Made Easy
http://www.seobook.com/free-account/
SEO Book touts a free 7 day course about search engine optimization. I haven't tried it yet (it's on my queue) and I'm excited to give it a shot.

seomoz.org - The Web's Best SEO Resources
http://www.seomoz.org/
Another site that's quite popular and has the SEO software tools to back it up.

Social Media

altitude ...brand elevation through social media
http://altitudebranding.com/
Amber Naslund has an excellent blog chocked full of information and insight. She also has 2 great free e-books which provide solid information for someone just starting out.

Chris Brogan
http://www.chrisbrogan.com/
The de facto blog for social media. Chris Brogan's book Trust Agents with Julien Smith is a best seller on the subject. Social Media 101 is Chris' new book and a conglomerate of all his best blog posts placed into a book. I'm still getting it because I like the portability combined with the ease of note writing on the pages.

Web Development

Nettuts+
http://net.tutsplus.com/
A plethora of tutorials, articles and tips on everything from HTML to CSS to PHP + more... way more.

A complete list? Not on your life! I'd love to hear about some of your favorite resources. Please feel free to send me your list or comments (or just to say hey!).
