Q: What lead you to take classes at UCLA Extension?
A: I'm not enrolled in the DCA program, however I do occasionally take classes at UCLA Extension to 'formalize' my skills in graphic design. Everything I know about design software is self-taught, and while I usually have fun learning things on my own, these classes do impose a certain degree of discipline which amateur artists like myself need to become professional.
Q: What are your future goals?
A: If ever I do decide on taking the full program and finishing it, I'll probably start checking out other classes (Read: N-E-R-D). No really. I think I can substantiate my design skills by integrating them with other disciplines. I'm considering programming 101 if not further studies in marketing, which was my original field of study.
Q: What classes have you found inspirational?
A: Dreamweaver for me was most empowering. For someone who knew absolutely nothing about websites before, I learned my way around html without really having to go through intensive coding. Although there's much to learn, the basic class was enough to equip me with the skills I needed to bring my art to web.
Q: What excites you about design?
A: Any blank surface excites me; I think it's always an invitation to prove that it's not blank or flat.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Music, books, TV. In other words, pop culture. :P
Q: Anything else you'd like to add?
A: Like parting words? Guys, please stop illegal downloads.
