About Us
AIGA, the professional association for design (formally known as American Institute of Graphic Arts) is the oldest and largest membership association for professionals, educators and students engaged in the discipline, practice and culture of designing. It currently represents more than 18,000 designers through national activities and local programs developed by 50 chapters and more than 200 student groups.
AIGA student groups are a way of encouraging students to take the first step in demonstrating a commitment to their professional interest and assisting them in understanding the graphic design field. UCLAx Design, UCLA Extension's AIGA student group is the student chapter of AIGA Los Angeles and was formed in 2001 with 25 student members. Our goal as a student group is to create an additional network outside the classroom by providing support, awareness and exposure of the communication arts and graphics design industry. Check out our forum on AIGA UCLAX Yahoo! Groups.
In addition, we plan on hosting a variety of future events that will include guest speakers, portfolio reviews and workshops, studio and museum tours as well as attending events hosted by the Los Angeles Chapter.
